Jade Joy, NCMG

National Certified Master Groomer and Owner of Austin Pet Stylist

I am a Nationally Certified Master Groomer though NDGAA, AKC Safety Certified Stylist and owner of Austin Pet Stylist, and have made Austin home for the last 21 years. I moved here in 2001 to attend UT Austin, and graduated with a BSN in Nursing in 2006. After working in trauma and women’s health for a few years, I realized it was time to pursue my passion for animals.

A career in dog grooming was a perfect way for me to combine my love for dogs and my artistic side, and it has proven to be a dream come true. All pets in my care are treated as if they were my own, and I understand how important that is to you. I previously volunteered at Austin Pets Alive! and The Humane Society as a dog walker, and currently offer pro bono grooming services to Blue Dog Rescue and the Meals on Wheels PALS Program whenever they have a dog that needs a little TLC. I believe there is always more to learn when it comes to grooming.

I am constantly looking for more knowledge, and have attended countless trade shows, seminars, dog shows, and classes. I am a National Certified Master Groomer and also a Pet Tech First Aid and CPR Instructor. I love being able to combine my previous medical knowledge with my current career and empower other pet care professionals and owners to act in an emergency.

Small dogs and seniors are my specialty. Some of my favorite breeds to groom are Pomeranians, Yorkies, Poodles, Wire Fox Terriers, Australian Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, or creative or personality trims on mixed-breed dogs.

I love to be physically active, and when I'm not grooming you can find me out hiking and enjoying the outdoors, scuba diving, working out in my home outdoor gym, or traveling and experiencing new things. I also volunteer at Austin Wildlife Rescue caring for injured or orphaned local animals. I absolutely love caring for the squirrels, skunks, and ringtails.

Brittany Watson

APS Salon Manager

I've worked in the animal industry for over 12 years now. I've worked in various boarding and doggy day care facilities, professional pet sitting, and worked and volunteered for Austin Pets Alive! for 9 years before starting my career at Austin Pet Stylist. I am currently doing training with the National Cat Groomers Institute of America (NCGIA) to become a Master Cat Groomer, and will be offering cat grooming in the near future! I have some experience doing basic handstripping on dogs after apprenticing with Edith Coffey, NCMG.

I grew up with American Staffordshire Terriers and love all bully breeds and Chihuahuas, but really love all dogs! I also have a talent for handling the little bitey chihuahuas that others can have a difficult time grooming. I currently have two cats, Maleficent and Winter Whiskers, and live with 3 poodles - Raven, Trevor, and Puzzle. I do take on new petsitting clients on occasion if it sounds like a good fit. Email the salon if you are interested!

Allie Brotherman

pet stylist apprentice

I was born and raised in southwest Austin and always felt a pull to the animal industry. Growing up I spent a lot of time outdoors with my sheltie and a lab mix, so naturally I am drawn to those breeds. I entered into the pet industry around 2014 and worked at various grooming salons and boarding facilities.

I’ve always had a passion for art and wanted a way to combine my love for animals with my creativity, so what better way to do this than grooming?

When I’m not grooming, I’m either home painting, taking care of my considerate collection of houseplants, reading, cooking, or out hiking the greenbelt with my cattle dog Calla. I also have a senior tuxedo cat named Charlie who has been in my life since second grade and is my soul cat. My favorite dog breeds are Australian cattle dogs, shelties, Old English sheepdogs, great pyrenees, pit bulls, and poodles. I hope one day to adopt my own standard poodle or Old English sheepdog and compete in creative grooming competitions.
